A Few of My Favorite Things

I got the idea to showcase a few of my favorite products from a good friend yesterday. At the risk of going all Oprah on your asses, here goes. These are just a few products that I couldn't live without and use almost on a daily basis.

My mom got me this blush from Nars, last Christmas and I have used it nearly every day since then. It's already almost gone.
$26
These eyeliners made by Stila cosmetics are lovely. They have a creamy consistency that smudge really nicely. I use them primarily as a shadow and love the smooth look the give.
$18
I've just started wearing this L'Oréal, cobalt smokes eyeshadow. It's got a gorgeous navy hue that goes perfectly with a ton of black eyeliner for an evening look. I wear it with brown during the day for a softer vibe.
$5.99
I've had this lotion from Bath & Body Works for years, and only recently started using it again. The smell is heavenly. It has a fresh, breezy smell. I sometimes use it as a perfume and put a little extra on.
$12
This Tree Hut body wash has shea butter in it and you can definitely tell. It leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized. It smells really yummy too.
$6.59
Ahhh.... Burt's Bees. Where do I begin? I LOVE this product. I've been washing my face with this bar for probably 8 years. It's the only thing that I've found that keeps my complexion clear. The only downside is that I haven't been able to locate it in Omaha anymore, and have taken to ordering it online.
$8

Along with my face soap, I also use Burt's Bees moisturizer. It is part of their acne solutions line, and I really feel that it does what it says it's supposed to. It leaves my face feeling moisturized, but not oily.

Rosie Red

Rosie Red

This year for Halloween I dressed up as Rosie the Riveter. I absolutely loved how it turned out; I received so many compliments, and really liked how easy the look was to put together. I think that it definitely can be transformed in to an everyday look if dialed down a bit. I've also really started to like the look of oxford shoes. They are so schoolgirl chic.

Here's a photo of how I did my makeup for the holiday:

Grey Glamour

I want everything in this look. I love how the colors all came together and compliment each other so nicely. It just proves that accessories to an outfit can speak volumes, and subtle pops of color can go a long way.

Black Friday

I can't stand waiting in lines and fighting epic crowds, so I'd rather do my black friday shopping online. Thankfully, most stores offer the same great deals that they have in the stores on the web. Here are a few things I have my eye on.

This funky shoulder zip sweater can be found at Gap. It's on sale for $20 from $54.50, plus an additional 20% off the entire purchase.

I've added this casual sweater, from New York & Company to my Christmas list. It's a whopping 50% off at $29.97.

How cute are these? I love the ruffle details; Old Navy really does have some nice items. The coat's priced at $44.75 from almost $90 and the shirt is $22.50.

I just ordered this gorgeous dress from Forever 21. I'm thinking New Years, with some sparkly accessories. It was only $10!!!!

What about you? Do you brave the frenzy that is black friday (dun dun dunnn), or prefer to shop from the comfort of your own home?

Turkey Dressing

I wanted to to something fun today in honor of Thanksgiving. I tried to stick with the traditional colors of this holiday, and actually came up with a pretty cute outfit. This year I'm thankful for my family, friends and their continued health and happiness. I'm also definitely thankful for mashed potatoes! What about you?
Happy Thanksgiving!!

All That Glitters

Tis the season for some holiday parties, and I love getting all dressed up! I used to tell my mom that I would never wear gold. I thought it was so gaudy. Boy, was I wrong. Now, putting on a piece of gold always makes me feel just a little bit prettier. The earrings and ring are from Nicole Richie's House of Harlow collection. Her jewelry and shoes are to die for. They have a retro tribal vibe, while still maintaining a sense of class. This dress, in my opinion, needs no words.

All I Want For Christmas

All I Want For Christmas

Here are a few of the things that I have my eye on for Christmas this year. I'm always looking to expand my make up supply, so the Smashbox eye palette is probably what I'm most looking forward to. I also wanted some Nars lipstick, the actual color I want is called, "Roman Holiday." It's a highly pigmented, matte, light pink color with an almost blueish tint. My beloved thrift store boots are slowly deteriorating before my eyes, so I'm asking for some new ones to replace them. I want a new curling iron because now that my hair is getting longer, I want to be able to use a large barrel to achieve a soft wavy style. What items are you crossing your fingers for this year?

Camelback Fashion

Camelback Fashion

Shirts:

I had a special request from a friend in Arizona to style an outfit to match her new camel jacket (excellent wardrobe staple, by the way). I wanted to keep the options as basic and affordable as possible. Everything is under $100 and most of them are well below that. I chose a basic tee to be worn under the jacket. They're easy, affordable, come in a variety of colors, and can translate to sweaters, turtlenecks or tank tops. The long statement necklaces and gold or silver bangles to match are an easy addition to dress up the look. I think a high pouffy ponytail would compliment the outfit nicely. Good luck, my friend. Let me know how it goes!

Flea Market Love

On my first trip to Los Angeles, we went to the Melrose Trading Post flea market located on the corner of Melrose and Fairfax streets. This, I was told, is a one of the best (and most frequented by celebs) flea markets in the state. I was not disappointed. The options were limitless. There are all kinds of wonderful vintage finds, from clothes to furniture. I was most fascinated by the jewelry. My favorite table was the one that Flea Market Girl occupied. I wanted to look at every necklace individually. There were hundreds, and they were all different. I have recently discovered their online shop, and I am over-the-moon happy. Here are some of my faves....
p.s. please disregard the less than attractive backgrounds

These larger ones range from $13-$32...

And the small ones are only $7!!!

Around the House

Around the House

Blowfish "Cruise" flats, $41

My mom and dad are remodeling their bathroom right now. She and I have been out and about looking for various paint colors and lighting fixtures, and it inspired me to do something a little bit different. Please bear with me, I've never done one of these before. I designed this room around the rug, the colors are so varied that they leave room for endless options to pair with it. The chair is expensive, but everything else is moderately affordable, so I thought it might be worth it to splurge. It's a great statement piece. I also love the look of distressed wood on the dresser and side table. I had to add the birdcage as a nod to my mom, she loves anything that has to do with birdies, so I know she'll appreciate it.

Nude Number

Nude Number

I designed this look around the skirt. It's such a statement piece, that all it needed was nude accents to go with. The sweater is a little pricey, but I feel it can easily be replicated on a lower budget. The necklace gives the whole outfit a classy and eclectic touch.

Wintery Wonderland

Well, I give in.... winter is officially here. The only way to make this revelation bearable is by putting together cute outerwear options. I stumbled across a stocking cap on the Etsy site, I don't remember the shop name, but there were the cutest crochet hats with bows attached to them. I have already commissioned my sister to make me one, but for the time being, I thought that a DIY would be as easy as pinning a hair bow to a hat. It definitely achieves a similar look. I have always loved this color combination, it has a nautical and patriotic feel that reminds me of childhood for some reason.

Ready.. Set.. Layer

This outfit has a more earthy feel to it. I tied the shirt and sweatshirt in with the look by choosing these beautiful peacock earrings. Ever since I made my own pair of moccasins from Hobby Lobby, I have been in love with the casual feel they emote. The multiple layers on top are also cold weather friendly when going coming into a warm house from the cold.

Animal Instincts

I love this top, it's always nice to have a fashion forward, but still flattering piece. My girlfriends call them "belly-hiders," and that's exactly what they do. The print is lovely, not too loud, and the high neckline looks gorgeous with the hair pulled back. Grey suede shoes have been in style for over a year now, but I still think they are a wonderful neutral that definitely has become a wardrobe staple. The cute cardigan provides a pop of color and nice coverage for the arms too.

Let's Keep This Casual.

Well, I seemed to have jinxed myself. There was a hefty amount of snow in this lovely city last night. Today all I want to feel is comfort, and this look really delivers. I have wanted a pair of Toms shoes forever, so it was an obvious choice when looking for casual footwear. The sequins leave the possibility of dressing up or dressing down a look. The ponytail holder is a bit pricey, but it spoke to me. All the girls in my family have a special affinity towards buttons due to our mother's special button jar when were growing up. Even if I'm going for a relaxed look I still want to look cute, so this was the perfect sweatshirt.

Rainy Afternoon

I wanted to get one last fall look in before the dreadful winter takes over here in Nebraska. The frost on my car windows this morning indicate that it's not too far off. The items in today's outfit are a little higher priced, but I feel that it could easily translate to a more affordable look. It has a sense of sophistication, while still maintaining a casual feel. My new favorite thing is having a chunky knit sock peek out the top of the boot, and it helps when trying to keep those toes warm!

Monday, November 8

Stripes and Bananas

Today I wanted to do the prefect look for running errands on a Saturday. Can I just say... I am obsessed with this tote!! Who said eco-friendly had to be dumpy? There are so many environmentally conscious options that retain a high sense of style. It just takes a little more effort to locate them. The cost-friendly boots and watch go perfectly with the rest of the outfit.

Texturize Me.

Guns and Leather

The goal of this post is to show a variety textures without it looking too busy. The shirt and skirt go nicely together, and I used the tights to make a statement. The saddle/golfer shoes compliment the bag perfectly, and really dress up the look. I am also liking how the necklace and earrings toughen it up a bit and tie in with the tights.

Bugs and Birdies

Bugs and Birds

I have to be honest, I designed this look around the earrings. They are very unique and whimsical, and probably a great conversation starter. Also, I like the idea of wearing dresses with tights in the fall. Sometimes the monotony of only pants until spring can be overwhelming.

All of the items you see are available on ModCloth. This clothing website has the most adorable items to outfit you from head to toe. Even better, their prices are wallet friendly! Go check it out & be sure to tell me what you buy!!

Dojo Mojo

This collection is inspired by my best friend who has been in LOVE with the 7 For All Mankind "Dojo," for years. I wanted the look to remain casual, so I used the sneakers to dress down the beautiful jacket. I paired the gloves and hat to match the chic earrings, and I think they give this outfit a little pop of whimsy. Bonus: barring the jeans, everything in this look is under $90!

No Shave November.

I am loving the color of this coat, it has been one of my absolute favorites ever since it came back into popularity a couple of years ago. The eclectic brooch is a nod to all of the men that have chosen to let their facial hair grow this month, which I am in full support of. ;)
p.s. my momma has this coat, isn't she stylin?

All of these items (except the bag) are under $100, and can be found by clicking on the image.

A Little Bit of Leopard.

A Little Bit of Leopard

This look is perfect for the chilly afternoons that mother nature brings to Nebraska in November. I love the delicate bows on the sweater, and who doesn't love a comfy pair of leggings. I chose this bag as an homage to my dog, Riley, who recently passed away. And can we talk about these shoes..? Leopard shoes are a wardrobe staple, what don't they go with?

Poppy In The Park.

Poppy In The Park

I used Polyvore to design this look for a contest over on, What I Wore. We were to put a look together that was inspired by Coach's new fragrance, Poppy. I didn't win the perfume giveaway, but I did enjoy putting everything together. I especially love the Coach bracelet's assorted colors and how it matches the adorable yellow flats. This outfit would be perfect for any date night that included a movie in the park. Sign me up!

Love Hurts Sometimes.

Love Hurts Sometimes

I have become obsessed with the neutral color in this look. I'd call it bone. It's a beautiful way to tie the look together and goes wonderfully with the navy color of the shorts and text on the tee.
